William Buchanan Smith, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. Born in Chilhowie, VA, he was a Hampton resident for about 20 years.

Nobody loved baseball (especially them damn Yankees!) as much as Bill. He was very passionate about baseball and was a walking encyclopedia of stats and baseball trivia. He also dedicated about 20 years to coaching Little League.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Gregg Smith; sons, William Buchanan "Buck" Smith II and John Matthew Smith; stepchildren, Jay Melton and Stephanie Harris; brothers, Thomas Preston Smith and David Edward; and his grandchildren.
