Virginia Gay Stanley, 87, widow of Harold Vernon Stanley, Sr., passed away on February 9, 2025.  Born in Russell County, VA, she has been a resident of Newport News since childhood.  She retired from Newport News Shipbuilding Department #014 after 45 years.

Virginia was preceded in death by her brother, Edgar T. Johnson Jr, and great-granddaughter, Breanna.  She is survived by her sons, Harold V. Stanley Jr (Connie) and Kenneth F. Stanley (Jona); siblings, Ernest J. Johnson (Joy), Betty Myers, Deloras Ann Arceo (Eddie), Naomi Spindle and Ken Broyles (Lynn); grandchildren, Brandy (Richie), Raven, Laura (Kurt), Matthew, Stephanie (Steve), Cathy (John), and Anthony (Katie); and great grandchildren, Carson, Nicholas, Layla, Amelia, Wyatt, Nautica, Mason, Ethan, John Jr., Sophia, and Anthony Jr.

Virginia's Life will be celebrated, 6:30 PM Friday, February 21, 2025 at Journey Church, 101 Main St., in Newport News.  The family wishes, in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy to take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association by clicking HERE.
