February 13, 1936 – July 9, 2026
Ursula would like you to know that her work here, after 90 years, is done. She began a new journey on July 9, 2026, from which she will not be returning.
After raising her family, Ursula worked for the Civil Service for 20 years. She leaves behind a loving family of whom she was immensely proud.
Ursula was world-renowned for her lack of patience, her unwillingness to hold back her opinion, and her remarkable knack for telling it like it was. She always told you the truth—even when it wasn’t what you wanted to hear.
Ursula was born on February 13, 1936, in Oberhausen, Rhineland, Germany. She grew up in Heidelberg during World War II, spent her teenage years in Wiesbaden, married David Jaynes of the United States Air Force, and immigrated to the United States in 1961.
She had a lifelong love of travel. Ursula visited six continents—only Australia escaped her—and explored more than 40 countries. She delighted in learning about different cultures and never passed up the chance to try the local cuisine.
She leaves behind three sons: Juergen (Amanda), Ralph (Tirzah), and Brian (Maryann); ten grandchildren: Adam, Laura, Ian, Sarah, Dereck, Devon, Zachary, Isaac, Scott, and Stefan; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Friedhelm Pfeiffer of Berlin, Germany, along with one nephew and one niece.
Ursula loved her greyhounds and was a familiar sight throughout Tide Mill Farms, faithfully walking them through the neighborhood in every kind of weather.
If there is one thing Ursula would like to be remembered for—and one thing she wishes she had done even more—it is laughter. So from now on, whenever you find yourself laughing, know that she will be there too.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to James River Greyhounds.
