Obituary

Timothy James Zingsheim (TJ), age 58, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. Born to Patricia and the late Gregory Zingsheim in Jacksonville, FL, he was a Hampton resident for 7 years and a Chesapeake and Norfolk resident for many years prior.

For over 30 years, he was an integral part of American Maintenance Suppliers, the company his mother founded.  He was known to his customers and employees as the "Guru".  Tim was known in his family as the "fun" adult at family gatherings, watching cartoons with the kids, getting down on the floor to play with them and always wanting to go outside with them to play football (a life-long love) and frisbee (his skills there were amazing!).  As a child, he loved to climb as high as and as much as he could get away with, which may have caused more than a few gray hairs for his parents. He never lost faith in his favorite football team, the Miami Dolphins. Tim loved everything "dragon" and was fascinated by all the different mythologies. He loved good food and loved to eat, especially sweets, always making sure he got the first bowl of ice cream so he could make sure he got some before it was gone!

As with many people, Tim had his demons that he struggled with, but his loyalty and love for family never wavered. His heart was broken when he found his oldest son, Mike Ice, deceased 3 weeks prior to his own passing.  He was so proud of his son, Nick, for putting so much effort into becoming the strong, independent man that he is today. His biggest smiles were always for his "little girl", Cat and her daughter, his "grandbaby", Mimi. He always wanted to look out for his Mom, Pat, and would go see her and check on her often. TJ was the "rock", the balance and a true soulmate to his wife, Sarah. His loss will be felt deeply and forever.

Tim leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 26 years, Sarah Zingsheim; his surviving children Nickolas Ice and Catherine Zingsheim and his granddaughter Naomi (Zingsheim) Cuttino; his mother, Patricia Z Smith; his sisters: Christine Shingledecker, Holly Zingsheim, Summer Koehler and Marina Durbin; so many nieces and nephews; his in-laws in Ohio; and, of course, the countless numbers of friends and customers at American Maintenance Suppliers, his second home.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 5:00 pm at the American Legion Hall located at 469 N Battlefield Blvd in Chesapeake followed by food and a time for us to share our memories of this amazing and unique man. Please join the family in wishing Godspeed and Safe Journey to Tim as he moves on to join his son, his father and his nephew.  Please note, per the Hall's rules, there will be no alcohol, drugs or weapons allowed.
