On Saturday, December 12, 2020, Thomas Joseph Moreland, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at age 63.
Tom was born on December 21, 1956 in Englewood, NJ to James and Rita (Brown) Moreland. He received his degree in Elementary Education from William Patterson University. He taught math at Bergen Catholic High School for several years before starting a career in instructional design. On September 26, 1981 he married Kathleen Mary Hughes. Together they lived a loving and joyful life, raising three children, Dana, Christopher, and Stephanie, and were blessed with three grandchildren, Graham, Connor, and Quinn.
Tom had a passion for photography and took pride in his beautiful nature photographs, as well as his ability to capture joyful family memories. He also had a passion for cooking and loved to cater large family gatherings with his famous ziti. But most of all, Tom loved quiet nights at home with the love of his life, his wife Kathy, visits with his children and grandchildren, and sharing laughs with his siblings. He will be remembered as a good man and a kind, tender soul.
Tom is survived by his wife Kathy; his daughter Dana Sites, her husband Logan, and their son Graham; his son Christopher Moreland, his wife Rebecca, and their son Connor; his daughter Stephanie Adams, her husband Greg, and their daughter Quinn; his six siblings Patricia Arestie, James Moreland, Peggy Coyne, Bill Moreland, Bob Moreland, Cathy Moreland and their families; and his wife Kathy's six siblings, their families, and her father John. A small ceremony will be held some time in the future when travel and gatherings are safer. If you wish to make a donation in his honor, an especially meaningful charity to him was St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
