Thomas James Clifford, 78, passed away on January 5, 2024.  Born in Waterloo, IA, he has been a resident of Hampton since 1968.  He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He then continued his service in the Hampton Police Department, retiring as a Lieutenant in 2003 after 35 years.  He began working for American Automotive Association as the Driving Improvement Administrator immediately upon retirement from the police department,  and remained with AAA until the COVID pandemic.

Tom was survived by his son, Benjamin T. Clifford and stepdaughters Tabatha Burwell and Schyler N. Hartless, as well as four grandchildren, Malachi Burwell, Malani Burwell, Rylin O'Neill and Olivia Trovillion.

The family will have visitation from 6-8:00 PM Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Dr. in Hampton, 757-825-8070.  Air Force Military Honors will be at 6:30 PM.
