Theodore "Ted" Francis Franks, III, 72, passed away on January 17, 2022.  A lifelong resident of Tidewater, he was known for working in contracting and equipment sales.  Ted had a love of sales and a gift in connecting with people. His career included selling cars, heavy equipment and tractors for several major equipment brands.  He worked in asphalt sales and later founded his own company, Atlantic Paving Incorporated and more recently T.F. Franks Incorporated.  His ideas were often ahead of their time. He created Pinpoint Advertising, where he would install T.V. monitors in local businesses and sell digital ad space.  Ted was an entrepreneur at heart, always creating and building.  He loved to knock around an idea to see where it would land.  At an early age, Ted built a Model A Ford with his father which resulted in a lifetime love of cars including a 55 Chevy, many hotrods, trucks, sportscars and boats.  Ted loved to garden, grow and can his own vegetables.  Most of all, he loved his family and was happiest when surrounded by his wife and children.  Ted's faith and the love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life.

Ted was survived by his wife, Judith Franks; daughter, Amy Hart (Brad); sons, Thad Franks (Eliz), Nick Franks (Amanda), Tyler Franks; Taylor Franks (Madison); and six grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Peninsula Memorial Park by Rev. Jeff Cannon.  Please dress casually and for weather.  The family wishes in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to SCAT, Inc, 12373 Dogwood Trail, Gloucester, VA  23061.
