Thelma Sanders Hill, 99, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024, after a long journey with Dementia and Alzheimer's.  She was born in Mitchell, NC and has been a resident of Hampton for over 60 years, where she worked in retail sales at Miller and Rhodes and Macy's.

She enjoyed gardening, camping and being outdoors.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Bruster and Rachael Smith; first husband, Thomas Clifford Sanders, Sr; second husband, John W. Hill; grandsons, Eugene and Ricky Benthall; and her seven siblings.  She is survived by her children, Priscilla, Thomas Jr, Judy, and J. Dave; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank James River Nursing and Rehab for her care for the past six years.  Especially the Huntington Team for their care, and Tenesha Massenburg who was her primary caregiver, and the VHS Hospice Team.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Peninsula Memorial Park.  The family wishes in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, by clicking HERE .
