Teresa, a beloved and cherished family member, passed away peacefully, in her sleep, at the age of 79 on Friday, April 10, 2026 on the last day of a mini-vacation at her favorite place in Atlantic City. Teresa was born on July 15, 1946 in Manhattan, NY and was lovingly raised by her parents, Clement and Marie Miller.
Teresa’s early life was marked by the warmth and closeness of her large family of four brothers and four sisters and the dedication of her parents.
Teresa attended St. Catherine Elementary School in Queens, NY, Fashion HS in Manhattan and Orange County Community College in Goshen, NY.
Teresa met Woody in 1960 and they married in 1966. They have two children Michelle and Bryan, and had recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Feb.19.
In her work, at a small law firm in Goshen, New York, because of her natural caring ethic, Teresa greeted each new client with kindness and understanding, guiding them through the intake process with care and compassion that put people at ease during their most challenging times of their lives, in some cases. She was a licensed Notary Public for the firm.
Prior to this, she managed an area McDonald’s restaurant when she and her husband Woody were considering the purchase, of a franchise of their own. It was determined to be much too time consuming and would interfere with her love of cruiseship travel.
Teresa’s commitment to service extended to volunteer work, where she supported causes such as Cancer and Alzheimer’s. Teresa was a 23 year cancer survivor but also a marvelous cook. One specific undertaking was that she was the lead person in the design, development and sale of a cookbook that was filled with an abundance of cultural diversity because of the membership of her local gym that provided their personal recipes for the task. The proceeds, from the sale of these cookbooks went to the local Alzheimer’s organization. She was also a host for a group of Ugandan leadership that brought students to visit and study the American mores.
Teresa loved to travel and was an active member of the social club called the Ocean City Gang. She was an avid reader from an early age and currently has a library of some 400 books. Teresa has probably read some 400 books, mainly of Black and American history.
Teresa is survived by her devoted husband, Her•Man (Woody) Dorsey, her daughter Donna Michelle Foreman, her son Bryan Sherwood Dorsey, her son-in-law Anthony Foreman, her daughter-in-law Melanie Dorsey, her two grandsons Christian and Cory and their wives Sophia Abud and Kelly Royal, granddaughters Sophia, Victoria, Jada and Danielle (who passed away in 2025). Also, she would not want us to forget Great Grandson’s Cayde and Kaius, as well as a whole host of family and friends too numerous to mention.
A funeral service to celebrate Teresa’s life will be held at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions in Hampton, VA, on April 20, 2026. The viewing will begin at 10am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00am and cremation.
Teresa will be remembered fondly for her unwavering dedication to kindness, compassion, common sense and her boundless love for her family and especially her closest friend Beverly Johnson. Following a life of so much caring, Teresa will most certainly, rest in peace.
