HMC (Ret.) Steven L. Durr, 63, went home to be with Jesus on September 13, 2019. Born to
John L. Durr and Nancy M. Durr, he was raised in Clinton, Mississippi before going on to join
the United States Navy. After retiring from the Navy after 24 years of service, he again served
those in the military by working as a Pharmacy Logistics Specialist at Naval Medical Center
Portsmouth. Steven loved the outdoors, water and fishing where he spent countless hours with
his sons. He devoted his time to service and family, serving as Scout Leader for Boy Scout
Troop 13. For a man who wore so many hats so well, he most proudly wore the one of
Granddaddy. Above all Steven loved his Lord and personal savior Jesus Christ, this passion was
followed closely by a love for his wife and found joy in every smile and laugh he saw in their 26
years of marriage. He fought the good fight in his battle against cancer for two years.
Survivors include his loving wife, Tracye Durr; their sons, Dylan Durr (Mary) of South Carolina
and Drake Durr of Hampton; granddaughter, Reagan Durr; brother, Bradford Durr of Clinton;
niece, Nancy Rubin (Charles); nephews, Crask Durr, Spencer Durr, all of Clinton.
The family will receive friends at Liberty Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 18, 2019
from 10-11AM. A memorial service with military honors will follow at 11AM at Liberty Baptist
Church.
