Roosevelt Lyons Jr, passed away on June 18, 2023.  Born in Rocky Mount, NC, he has been a resident of Newport News since 1974.  He served in the US Army, with the 7th Transportation Brigade, then went on to be a truck driver, working for several companies but retiring from Waste Management in 2014.

Roosevelt was preceded in death by his daughter, Makella Fox.  He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gloria E. Lyons; children, Isis Lyons, Star Holmes, and Roosevelt Lyons, III; two brothers and one sister; and grandchildren, Keysean Key, Ayanna Lyons, Carmine Holmes, Giselle Holmes, Remi Holmes, and Milan Holmes.
