Roosevelt Franklin Askew, Sr was born June 5, 1945 to the late Ruth and Dennis Askew, Sr in Ahoskie, North Carolina. On Friday, December 27, 2019 God answered his prayers and came to take him home. He is preceded in death by his wife Clydeen M Askew.
Roosevelt attended Huntington High School in Newport News, Virginia class of 1966. He furthered his education by attending Norfolk State University and completed his degree May 1968; he was drafted June 1968 enlisted in the United States Army fought in the Vietnam War. Roosevelt wasn't afraid of working after serving in the United States Army he started working as a Brick Masonry and was well known for his great work ethics and professionalism; he retired in 2008.
He married Clydeen Manley who he met after returning home from the Vietnam War and they welcomed daughter Ruth Askew, Daniele Askew and Roosevelt Askew, Jr. On July 5, 2019 Roosevelt accepted Christ as his Personal Lord and Savior in the presence of his family; we celebrated and declared the VICTORY in Jesus name.
In addition to his parents Roosevelt was preceded in death by his wife Clydeen Askew, siblings Chester Askew, Sadie Jones, George Askew, Dennis Askew, Jr., Eugene Askew, Shirley Everett, Alton Askew, Sr., and Joseph Askew. He leaves to cherish his daughter Ruth Askew (Rudy), two sons Daniele Askew (Demetria) and Roosevelt Askew, Jr; two grandchildren, Darius Askew and Daniele Askew, Jr; one great grandchild Ivyana Askew. Two Brother in law's Joe Manley (Marilyn) and Don Thomas; host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends who he loved dearly.
A service to celebrate Roosevelt's life will be 11:00 am, Saturday, January 4, 2019 at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Dr. in Hampton.
