Roger Romeo Chabot J r., age 63, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021. Born to Roger Romeo Chabot Sr. and June Damon , on September 30, 1957 in Lewiston, Maine , he spent many years living in Virginia and Maine.
Romeo graduated from Edward Little High School in 1975. He then served in the Navy from 1976-80. He studied at UMF Maine and began his very impressive and extensive career. Romeo worked at Pineland Center in Maine where he was a correctional officer and a security guard; worked at Maine Department of Transportation for many years; furthered his education; received many certifications, including aerial firefighting, and tower climbing. He continued to go on to be the only locksmith in Maine responsible for building integrity and security state Armories and National Guard installations. He worked as a deck electrician and stage builder at Huntington Ingalls shipyard. He was also on the Hampton Regatta committee.
Romeo touched the lives of so many. He was exceptionally smart, charismatic, and full of life and love. he was a mentor with a calm easy spirit and a listening ear. He was a laid-back soul with a huge heart and a great laugh. Romeo was a talented guitar player and could unite a room with his playing and singing. A few favorites were House of the Rising Son, Up Against the Wall (Redneck Mothers), and Cats in the Cradle. He was an avid bike rider and loved his Harleys. He also enjoyed hunting and golfing. He spent his last years living his absolute best life, married to the love of his life and soulmate. Romeo will be greatly missed by all that new him, but his memory will live forever through his songs and in our hearts. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 3 years, Joanna Chabot; daughters , Kayla Chabot and Amber Lynn Lessard; sisters, Janice Grant Cox and Sandra Dunbar; six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on June 5 th 1pm at First United Methodist Church of Fox Hill, 1 Salt Pond Rd. Hampton, VA 23664
