Philip (Phil) Robert Sommer, 64, loving son of the late John G. and Lorraine Sommer, passed away unexpectedly on September 4, 2023. Formerly of Buffalo, NY, he moved to Hampton in 2017.  He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he enjoyed many connections and including working with the coffee and donut ministry and annual family/parish picnic.

Phil is survived by his siblings, Shirley Wayda, Michael Sommer (Darlene), John "Jack" G. Sommer, Jr. (Sally), Pete Sommer (Tammy) and Peggy Speck; and many nieces and nephews.

Phil was preceded in death by his sisters Bette Coia and Terri Walters; and his brothers-in-law Don Coia, John Wayda and Richard Walters; and sister-in-law, Nancy M. Sommer.

Phil was an avid arm chair sports fan, car racing, golf, but his favorite was football. His "teams" were the Clemson Tigers and the Buffalo Bills.  He loved cooking and attending family dinners.  He loved his family, and his "pride and joys" were his two cats, Buddy and Cody.  He will be missed by many who have known him through the seasons of his life.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. John Grace, on Friday September 15, 2023 at 11:00am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2150 Cunningham Dr. in Hampton, VA. with a reception to follow at the church.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Niagara Falls, NY on Saturday September 23 at 10am at St John de LaSalle Church. The family will provide details as they become available.
