Pedro Rodriguez Ortiz, age 75, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022. Born to Felix Ortiz and Catalina Rodriguez in Puerto Rico, he was a Hampton resident for 10 years.

In the US Army, Pedro served as an Air Defense Artillery NCO in Baumholder, Germany. After leaving the Army he worked at Xerox Corp, Rochester NY as an Electrical Engineer for almost 30 years. The assignment that brought him the most pleasure there was occasionally visiting colleges around the country recruiting minority Engineers for Xerox. After retiring there he moved to Virginia and worked for the Virginia Employment Commission and later for the VA in Hampton.

He was a recreational diver and sometimes volunteered as a youth diving instructor. Pedro was an avid fisherman and former member of a local fishing club (PSWSFA).

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, David Ortiz. Pedro leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 8 years, Marlen Ortiz; sons, Daniel Ortiz (Nancy) and Andre Ortiz; brothers, Nelson Ortiz (Dilia), Samuel Ortiz, and Emilio Ugarte (Susan); sister, Jennie Pratt (Eddie); grandchildren, Gabriel, Anthony, Alexander, and Sophia; great-granddaughter, Mallory.
