Obituary

Patricia Manus Brodeur left the ones she loved to be with her Lord, on January 12, 2025, after a long and wonderful life.  She was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Lewis (father of her children); and husband, Fred Brodeur, mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Manus; daughter Debbie Shaw; sister Mary Bell; and brothers, Tom Manus and Bobby Manus.  She is survived by her sister, Becky Drafts of Columbia, SC.

Her biggest claim to fame and the love of her life, son, Robert "Chip" Lewis and daughter, Debbie Shaw (Dickie).  Her grandchildren were her soul – Lisa Shaw, Amy Theriault (Steve), and Jessica, David, and Jacob Lewis; and step-granddaughter, Abbey Renegar.  Her five great-grandchildren made her heart sing, Alana, Maleia, Eli Wakinekona, and Henry and Josie Theriault.  The Robert Lewis Family were also a big part of her life, and she loved them So.  Last, but surely not least, Ken Gill; who was her significant other for 22 years.  He filled her heart with love, joy and laughter.  Pat was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many; and she will be missed.

Pat lived each day to the fullest with no assurance of tomorrow.  Pat said, she always tried to treat people as she would like to be treated and "life may not be the party we hoped for but while we are here, we might as well dance."

Pat retired from Civil Service in 1995 after 32 years of service at beautiful Fort Monroe.  She had many hobbies, such as playing bridge and Mahjong; and did lots of volunteer work for many organizations. Pat was very active in her neighborhood association and the Elizabeth Lake Garden Club; and held many positions and volunteered at CNU for 12 plus years.  Her favorite hobby, bar none, was being with and doing things with her family.

The family will receive friends at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions from 4-5:30 pm Friday, January 17, 2025.  A celebration of her life will be a Christian Service at St. Marks United Methodist Church 11:00 AM Saturday, January 18, 2025.  Interment will be at Peninsula Memorial Park following the service.

You may honor Pat with contributions to the American Lung association or a charity of your choice; or help anyone, family or friend in need.
