IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Neville Narwani
Etwaroo
July 20, 1947 – April 17, 2021
Neville Narwani Etwaroo was born in Guyana, South America on July 20, 1947, where he spent all of his childhood and adolescent years growing up with both his parents and five brothers. Neville moved to the United States in 1966 at the young age of nineteen. He attended Howard University in Washington D.C., where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1970. Neville met his wife Dorothy Irene Rose Bernadette Mayo and they remained married until she passed away on August 12, 2008.
Neville and Dorothy moved from Washington D.C. in 1978 to the Hampton Roads area with their five children. Neville had a strong love for America and proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1988. He had an endless love for the Washington football team, rooting tirelessly for them, attending games at RFK stadium while living in D.C., and also cheering for them from home. Neville loved all sports, boxing, baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, and golf. When asked who he thought was the greatest athlete of all time, he would proudly proclaim, Muhammad Ali. Throughout the years, Neville gave endlessly to his family, giving them full financial support and always opening his home for his children and grandchildren to live at home during times of need. Neville had many close friends and family that loved his quiet calm, kindness, and love of life. He lived life to the fullest, often visiting Park's Inn, a local bar, in Newport News, Virginia. He lived life in his own terms, proclaiming and singing "I Did it My Way" and "New York."
Neville worked in various occupations during his career including working as a Foreman in the Brass Shop in Hampton, Virginia; Owner and Manager of a Convenience store in West Palm Beach, Florida; Technician at Gateway Manufacturing in Hampton, Virginia; and Science Teacher at Lindsay Middle School, Hampton, Virginia. He officially retired in 2010 from Heritage High School as a Teacher Assistant in Newport News, Virginia.
Neville passed away in his home on the morning of April 17, 2021, and was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Rose Etwaroo, father and mother, David Etwaroo and Doris Etwaroo; and his four brothers Leslie Etwaroo, Hilary Etwaroo, Michael Etwaroo, and Rudy Etwaroo. He is survived in death by his children, Angela Maria Fitch (husband Charles), David Shivaun Etwaroo (wife Teresa), Indira Shalimar Etwaroo, Sunita Etwaroo Hines (husband Glenn), and Matthew Rohan Etwaroo (wife Rosy). He is also survived in death by his youngest and closest brother Neil Etwaroo (wife Rukmini). He also leaves a host of family including aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
