Michael Gordon Smith, 74, passed away peacefully in his home on September 2, 2024. He was born Nov. 8, 1949 to Vivian and Rebecca Smith and was a graduate of Warwick High School. A lifelong resident of Virginia, living most of his adult life in Hampton, more specifically the Phoebus area.
Smitty, as most all his friends knew him as, worked many jobs, to include Dixie Diggs Auto Parts, he owned and operated The King Street Pub with his wife Pam; bringing live classic rock and heavy metal music to the Peninsula from 1984-1994. His last job was as a supervisor building community-gated homes.
Michael is survived by his wife, Pamela Wilder Smith; son, Noah Cole Smith; daughter, Rachael Buckman; Sisters, Judy Kimble and Vivian Smith Connaughton; and grandchildren Olivia and Jackson Buckman.
In his retirement years, Smitty, looked after their houses and property at 911 Mallory St. He enjoyed taking bike rides on his trike "Red Rocket" to Fort Monroe to see the sights and sounds of nature and the beach.
Family and friends invite you to be a part of Smitty's Celebration of Life at our home, on Saturday, September 21 from 3pm. till dusk. Come for a short or long while to enjoy food and fellowship; bring a chair and cooler, if you desire.
The family wishes expressions of sympathy to take the form of contributions to Animal Rescue of your choice. Arrangements are by Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions in Hampton.
