Mary Alice Wetherington Banks of Hampton Virginia, 84 yrs passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on July 31, 2021, from heart failure. She was born in Wildwood North Carolina on August 21, 1936 to Luke and Mabel Wetherington.  A loving daughter, sister, wife and mother, and devoted follower of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ she was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Hampton. Mary was loved by all who knew her. The world will be a sadder place without her in it. Mary grew up in North Carolina, went to Newbern High School and furthered her education by graduating from the University of Mount Olive. Mary met and married the love of her life Joel A Banks.

Mary is survived by her husband, Joel Banks; her daughters, Judy Griffin, Paula Erxleben, and Patricia Banks; brother, Ralph Wetherington; sisters, Janice Moses, Elaine Sandine, Joyce Christie, and Lois LeRiche; four grandchildren, Tom Geller, Samantha Henley, Danielle Schultz, Megan Kruse; eleven  great-grandchildren, Gabriel Kruse, Max Schultz, Emery Schultz, Quentin Henley, Leland Henley, Briar Henley, Hunter Henley, Gavin Geller, Nicholas Geller, William Geller, Madeline Geller.
