Marjorie Elfman, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 1, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Despite her diagnosis, Marge remained positive, committed to therapy, and had a smile that would light up any room.
Marge was born in Deckerville, MI, the eldest of the three children of Marian and Harold Whitchurch. She graduated from Dearborn High School and attended Hillsdale College. She graduated from the University of Detroit Dental School's Hygiene Program, and was a Dental Hygienist for 37 years.
Marge is survived by her husband, LTC (Ret) Charles "Bart" Elfman. They married in 1982 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hampton, where they met. They lived in Hampton, in Mt. Holly on the Northern Neck, Ft. George G. Meade, MD, and Alexandria, VA before they settled in Warwick Forest of Newport News.
Marge enjoyed traveling and she and Bart visited Europe, the Far East, and all over the U.S. She loved spending time with family and friends, hosting dinner parties, going to plays and the symphony, attending lectures, and decorating. While living on the Northern Neck, Marge was a devoted member of Cople Episcopal Parish. She volunteered for several organizations wherever she lived. She was a caring and loving mother, wife and friend. She was devoted to her children, Chris Nill and Heidi Chaney; stepchildren, Kim Elfman, Kathy Cutlip (Matt), Karen Watkins (Brad); and grandson, Tyler Watkins; all of whom survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Nancy Zelek and Judy Whitchurch.
