Marion Gordon Garnett Jr, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. Born to Marion Sr. and Elizabeth Valentine Garnett, he was a Hampton resident for 73 years.  He was preceded in death by his brother Franklin Garnett.

He served his country in the US Coast Guard Reserves, owned Gordon's Heating and Specialty Plumbing, and later went to work for Virginia Natural Gas for 17 years.  Marion had a passion for restoring cars and won AACA National and Grand National awards for his excellent workmanship.  His daughters often told people that his cars were so clean that you could eat your dinner under the hood of the car.  He loved telling jokes and he always made people smile wherever he went including his sweet nurses at Riverside Regional Medical Center and the Chaplain who came to his home during his short time in hospice.  The only people he couldn't call friends were those he had not met!  But most of all, he loved his family and provided abundantly and lovingly for all of them.

Marion leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Nancy Mundie Garnett; daughters, Nancy Outten Murdock (Joe);  and Joy Garnett Duke (Steven); grandchildren, Lloyd David Outten (Claire), Mitchell Gordon Outten (Charlotte), Christopher Thomas Duke, and Joshua Ryan Duke (Hannah) and many family members and friends.
