November 8, 1948 – October 14, 2023
Lynda Faye Minnick, age 74, passed peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Born to Stephen
B. Elkins Sr. and Marjorie Edwards in Newport News, VA, she was a Hampton resident her entire
life.
A Hampton High School graduate, Lynda married Richard S. Minnick Jr. in 1967 and was his
beloved wife until his passing in 2020. She was a devoted mother to 5 children, and a grandmother
known as Ninna to 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Lynda loved spending time with
her family and taking care of every one of them.
Lynda had a compassionate heart for serving others, whether it was volunteering in her church
food pantry at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, working as a Girl Scout Troop Leader for many years,
donating to many charities, or combining her passion for quilt making, where she donated over
50 handmade quilts to local homeless shelters. She was truly a person of selfless worth and had
compassion for others.
Lynda is preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Marjorie, her brothers Stephen B Elkins
Jr., and Paul W. Elkins, and by her husband Richard S. Minnick Jr. She leaves behind to cherish
her memory and legacy her children, Richard S. Minnick lll (Laura) of Chesapeake, Cynthia R. McCoy
(Michael) of Cedar Creek, TX, Christopher D. Minnick of Hampton, Jennifer L. Ball (Harry) of
Hampton, and Kathrine E.M. Littles (Tony) of Newport News; her sister, Cheryl L. Elkins of
Williamsburg; grandchildren, Amanda, Jessica (Davidde), Andrew, Marissa, Sean, Eric (Brittany),
Rebecca (Kenny), Noah, Jacob (Abigail), Griffin, Sophia, and Kyli; and great-grandchildren, Aspen,
Claire, Connor, and Dwyn.

The family will receive friends at the home of Kathrine and Tony Littles between 6pm-8pm on
Thursday November 2, 2023.
Inurnment will be at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA on
November 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
