Obituary

Lissy A. DeHaven was born in Randers, Denmark November 30,1929 where The River Guden flows to the Kattegat Sea. Blonde, blue -eyed Viking, her heritage matched her love for history, antiques, adventure and the water. Survivor of WWII and the German Occupation of Denmark as a child.

The eldest of 5 children she walked the historic cobblestone streets of Randers and played at her uncles' cow farm in Simested. Her father a registered potato salesman sold fruits and vegetables at the longest running outdoor market at St. Martin Church (circa 1500) square.

At the age of 19 in 1948 she left home to work in Sweden as a nanny. In 1951 she met George, a young handsome US Army soldier on leave in Copenhagen. Five children,30 years of Military life,15 years of Civil Service together. She was truly a military man's wife, supporting George. A multitude of moves to include France, Germany and the final sunny spot Hampton, VA. in 1975.

Lissy went to school to obtain her Real Estate and Brokers license. Fluent in multiple languages. An avid reader, gardener, chef and accomplished seamstress to include knitting, crochet and needle point. Swimming was her favorite sport and the Fort Monroe pools provided decades of enjoyment.

Lissy was predeceased in death by her husband of 67 years George and her angel here on earth Elisabeth. She is survived by her children Andrea, Michael, Patty and Christine. Blessed with 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
