Dr. Keith Palmer passed away May 26, 2020 at the age of 96 in the loving company of his son Mark, grandson Josh and good friend, Sally. Keith had a long, international career as a physiatrist, and worked as both a doctor and educator at various institutions including those in London and Canada, in Boston, MA, in Providence, RI and more recently at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Hampton, VA. He had many interests outside of his vocation. He could build a bicycle from scratch; he wrote a book on the history of his namesakes, the Palmers; and composed beautiful poetry. He had a passion for sailing and Portuguese fado music and pursued a lifelong inquiry of human evolution as well as cosmology.
During WWII, he was a Rifleman, Home Guard, Welsh Division, and No. 1 Gunner, "Z" Anti-Aircraft Battery on Hampstead Heath, UK. He had many leadership roles throughout his career in medical organizations that contributed to the fields of chronic pain management, rehabilitation medicine, and rheumatoid arthritis. Beyond his retirement, he continued to help people well into his 90's, offering his professional expertise to all and any who needed some advice or a learned opinion.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Yvonne; children, Vanessa, Pandora and Mark, and their partners, Chris, Paul and Sally; grandchildren, Kathleen, Megan, Mark Jr., Aaron, Joshua, Benjamin, Jonathan, Gwynne and Devyn, and ten great-grandchildren.
