Katherine Humphrey Webster, 87, passed away on December 22, 2024.  Born and raised on the Peninsula, she graduated from Hampton Institute (University) in 1963, then became a teacher in the Smithfield and Hampton Public School system. After retiring from the school system in 1981, she began working at the General Smalls Inn on Ft. Eustis, retiring again in 2024.

Katherine was preceded in death by her first husband, Lonnie Humphrey; second husband, Wynsol Webster, and her brother, Frederick Dodson.  She is survived by her children, Ellen Humphrey Pridgen of Newport News, David Humphrey Sr. (Casandra) of Arkansas, and Dr. Pamela Humphrey-Watkins of Mississippi; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

The viewing will be from 10-11:00 am Saturday, January 4, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 521 North Ave. in Newport News. Immediately following at 11, a Home Going Service will be held.  Burial will be at Hampton Memorial Gardens following the service.  Arrangements are being provided by Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions in Hampton, 757-825-8070.
