Obituary

Poquoson,

Joseph Brad Pecor, 42, of Poquoson, Virginia departed this life on February 6, 2021.  Joseph was born on April 1, 1978 in Fort Carson, Colorado to David G. and Debra (Chartier) Pecor.  He attended elementary school at Websterville Baptist Christian School in Websterville, Vermont and Spaulding High School and the automotive program at the Vo-Tech Center in Barre, Vermont.

In June of 2000, he married Katie Hood in Williamstown, Vermont.  They later divorced.  They had three (3) children, Lindsey Pecor of Williamstown, VT, and Taylor Pecor and Matthew Pecor of East Randolph, Vermont.

Joseph worked in various businesses in Central Vermont including Stone's Service Station, Bombardier and Allen Lumber.  After his move to Virginia, he worked for Air Power (doing demolition – a job he was born to do) and Jessico, Inc. in Norfolk, Virginia as well as Frontline Vapes, Taylor's Do-It Center and DB Custom Homes all of Poquoson, Virginia.  At the time of his death, he was employed with AWP of Canton, Ohio.

Joe's real passion, however, was being in the pits working on race cars, first at Thunder Road in Barre, Vermont and then at Langley Speedway in Hampton, Virginia.  He loved helping people and was always willing and ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed.  He loved being a part of the racing community and made many friends at both tracks.

In recent years, he got into cooking and even talked about becoming a chef, but making good down home style food, not that "fru-fru" food.  In the meantime, he would cook up his favorite recipes for family members when they visited.  He loved learning to use the Instant Pot and to his mother's delight, always cleaned up the kitchen afterwards.  If there were ever a need for someone to "man the grill" he would happily volunteer.  After Hurricane Katrina, he rode shotgun with a friend to bring a tractor-trailer full of supplies to New Orleans.  He talked about getting on top of the trailer to lift up lines so they could get through to the people who needed help.  He just loved helping people.

Joe is survived by his children, his parents, his brother, David G. Pecor, Jr. and his sister-in-law, Cathy Owen, of Rockport, Texas, his nephew, Jack Thompson of Barre, Vermont, his aunts and uncles, Dan and Candy Wasileuskas, Susan Paronto, Denise Ouellette, Michele Washburn, Patricia Wescom, Sandra Tremblay and Darrell and Anna Martin, as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Joe was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Beverly Chartier, his paternal grandparents, Theodore B. and Florence Pecor, his aunt, Constance Carroll, his uncles, Theodore B. Pecor, Jr., Ed Carroll, Bertrand Tremblay, Jeffrey Paronto, Sr. and his cousins, Amanda Taylor, Corey Pecor and Theodore B. Pecor, III.
