Hampton,

STS2 Joseph Karl Austin, U.S. Navy Ret.) 56, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.  Born in Nuremberg, West Germany, at kaiserslautern Base, he has been a resident of Hampton since 1999.

Joseph served in the US Navy for 20 years in the submarine force until he retired in 2001.  After the Navy, he worked for Marva Maid Dairy up until his illness, just a few months ago.

Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Austin.  He is survived by his wife, Cindy Lou Hans-Austin; sister, Patricia Austin; and brothers, Alfred Austin and Michael Austin. He will be missed by his best friend Dale Webb, Jr who was like a brother to him.
