On August 15, 2022, Joan Patricia Ann Siml Forestiere passed away peacefully at age 84 with her son and daughter by her side.Joan was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 17, 1937 to James E. Siml and Julia Radvansky. She was a successful, highly regarded cosmetologist for most of her adult years. She ran her mother's beauty shop for a few years. She then became a devoted military wife for 18 years and traveled the world raising her 3 children. Once the family was stationed at Fort Monroe, Virginia, Joan went back to work as a beautician and managed both the Langley Air Force Base and the Ft. Monroe salons. Later on, she owned and operated Bayside Styles beauty salon in Hampton for several years.
Joan was the strength and devoted mother of her 3 children. She is survived by her son – Tony Forestiere (Beth) and her daughter Julie Wezensky, 9 grandchildren – Jessica, Jacob, Heather, Brian, Amy, Jamie, Jonathan, Christopher, and Sarah, and 9 great grandchildren.
Joan was preceded in death by her son Jean-Paul, her parents James and Julia Siml, and son-in-law Chuck Wezensky.
A Funeral Mass will be held in celebration of Joan's life at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, 512 Buckroe Ave, Hampton, VA at 11:00am Monday, September 5, 2022.
