James "Jim" G. Sorrells, born December 12, 1953, passed away on March 28, 2025, at the age of 71. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Soledad; his daughter, Mary Sorrells (James); and his two cherished grandchildren, John and Michael. Jim was a loving brother to Penny Volk (Roger), and a proud uncle to nieces Carrie, Caryn, and nephew Randy. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Priscilla Hall, and nephews Mike and Dan; brother-in-law, Gerry Zamora (Annabelle), along with nephew AJ and niece Sofia; and sister-in-law, Lisa Mercado (Roy).

Born in Arizona, Jim spent his final years in Poquoson, Virginia, where he retired after proudly serving in the United States Air Force. A man of great character, Jim was known for his love of his family, his humor, generosity, and his enduring kindness. He enjoyed building tank models, going on nature walks with his grandchildren, and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. He also had a special affection for old movies, particularly the ones that sent shivers down your spine.

Jim's dedication to his family and his country will never be forgotten. He was truly an amazing human being and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Berceuse Funeral & Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Drive, Hampton, VA 23666.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 116 Denbigh Blvd, Newport News, VA 23608.

In accordance with Jim's wishes, the family invites all attendees to wear Kansas City Chiefs attire or colors to the service.
