Harold Wallace Peters, 93, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023. Harold was born on August 29, 1930 in Kingston, PA to Byron and Florence Peters.
He was a kind man who loved God, his wife and his family with all his heart. As a young man, he joined the United States Air Force, travelling the country and world as a jet engine instructor. He met his wife of 70 years, Helen Sabol, while in California. They married in Streator, Illinois in 1953 and moved to New Carlisle, Ohio where he was stationed at Wright Patterson AFB. Their subsequent stations included Florida, England, Arizona, and Virginia (with Harold serving in Viet Nam during that period) before retiring at Langley AFB in Hampton.
Harold loved the church and was a Sunday School teacher for over thirty years. He was an active person after retirement, with the ability to repair just about anything and the generosity to share his talents with neighbors and friends. Helen and Harold thoroughly enjoyed retirement and travelled extensively for many decades – both in the United States and Europe.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kent, as well as his parents and all seven of his siblings.
Harold is survived by his loving wife Helen; his sons Mark (Cathy), Lee (Penny), and Clint (Rita) and his daughter Kristina, as well as six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Harold will be held Monday September 18 at 1100 AM at the Centurian Interdenominational Church located at 61 Bernard Road, Fort Monroe.
