Ella Mae Wright passed away on Thursday July 24 2025, 5 days before her 73rd birthday. She was born in Bethesda, Maryland, but she lived most of the years, after she grew up, in Newport News, Va.
Ella was preceded in death by her mother Ella C Albert and father William Albert. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 25 years, Kenny Wright; her sons Jeremy Wright and Bobby Winfree, Jr (Amanda); 4 grandchildren; her step-mom Ona Albert, who is lovingly called Mom; her twin sister Etta Eggleston (Richard) and their 5 children and 6 grandchildren; brothers, Glenn Johnson (Syd) and their 5 children and 2 grandchildren, Jeremy Albert (Jessica) and their son; and sisters, Gloria Waite and her son and Suzanne Husby (Jon).
Ella loved watching football, playing games on her computer and cooking since she retired. She loved fishing, mostly bass fishing.
While growing up we moved around a lot since our Dad was in the Navy. I think she kept that wandering spirit until she met Kenny. Although they were only married for 25 years, they were together 42 years. Wherever we moved we would always find time for bowling and roller skating, our favorite pastimes. We especially loved spending time with our grandmother in Winslow, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity in her name to honor her, mine (Etta's) is Make a Wish foundation for our sister Suzanne, who works tirelessly for them in San Diego, California.
Arrangements are by Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions in Hampton, 757-825-8070.
