Edward Phillip "EP" Miller Jr, 79, of Hampton passed away at his residence on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. He is the son of the late Edward Philip Miller and Catherine Wagner Miller. He was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, raised in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and moved to the Peninsula in 1967 when he joined Newport News Shipbuilding as a nuclear test engineer, retiring in 1999. He was member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he became presider of the Happy Wanderers club for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda, sons Phil (Jennifer) and Pete, grandchildren Megan and Matthew, sister Cindy Miller, niece Alice Khawam, uncle Jim Wagner, aunt Agnes McFalls, and many cousins. In his younger days, EP enjoyed working on cars, shooting, camping, boating, fishing, golfing, reading, drawing, and piddling in the garage. He was a member of the Nautilus Society at the shipyard, the York Rangers, and the North South Skirmish Association. He was also a lifetime member of the Lafayette Gun Club, a patron member of the NRA, and the Virginia State Rifle and Revolver Association. There wasn't anything he couldn't over engineer a solution for or offer an opinion on.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30pm on Wednesday, September 6, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hampton. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00pm. There will be a reception immediately following Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
