Edmund Robert Levy, 61, born on August 27, 1958 was called peacefully in his sleep to be with the Lord on August 19, 2020. He was born in Deland, FL and lived out most of his life in Newport News, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Patsy Levy. Eddie leaves behind his devoted wife, Debbie "Boog" Levy. Eddie was the loving father of his two daughters, "the girls", Jenni and Tricia Levy. Some of their favorite memories with him were fishing on charter boats and going crabbing. He was also the loving father of his favorite son, Tyler "He's a Beast" Levy. He took great pride in supporting his son's passion for music and loved attending his shows. He was known as "Pops" by all of Tyler's band-mates and close friends, who he always treated like family. Also known as "Pappy" to his two granddaughters, Amaya "Butt-munch" and Liana "Fart-blossom", and his grand dog Fonzie. He also leaves behind four sisters, Betty Burrage (Jack), Tina "Tooter" Mendenhall (Chuck), Ginger Henley (Jeff), and Anita Hudson (Tek). Eddie is also survived by his sister in-law, Mary "Budhoe" Lai (Joey), who always loved him like her own brother and he took pleasure in jokingly reminding her to "shave her hairy back." He leaves behind one aunt, Alice Ellis (Dick). Eddie was an uncle to many nieces and nephews; Rebecca "Nickie" Giangrasso (Joe), Bettie Jo "B.J." St. Pierre (George), Ernest "Ernie" Pyle (Tabitha), Heather Foley (John), Nathan Mendenhall (Brittany), Don Davidson (Jessi), Samantha Grant, Matthew Grant, Deborah Lee Rose, who teasingly knew him as "cattlepuss head", and David Rose. He also has great nieces and nephews and a great great nephew. Eddie used to love hanging out and having drinks with his friends and family at his brother in-law, David Rose's "Lost Key Bar". He also used to enjoy hanging out in the courtyard laughing and telling jokes with his good friend, Tom McVey. Ed also leaves behind his good friends and co-workers, Jesse "Egg head" Allen and Joe Bender.
Eddie is an alumni of Bethel High School, where he also played football. He enjoyed both watching and playing sports. He is a veteran who served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed telling his family stories about his military adventures. Ed was a hard worker and an excellent provider for his family. His compassionate side shined brightest when he was in the presence of his granddaughters. They always had a very special place in his heart. He also once owned a parakeet that he loved, Lucky, who enjoyed hanging out on the brim of his hat or on his shoulder. Eddie was a funny and easy going man. His joys in life were his family, fishing, crabbing, enjoying good meals, watching television, collecting sports cards and memorabilia, and telling jokes. He was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan since he was 8 years old. There will be a gathering, in the near future, with all of Eddie's loving family and friends for a Celebration of Life in his honor.
