IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diane German
Horne
November 27, 1943 – April 10, 2025
Diane German Horne, age 81, of Hampton, passed away in her home on April 10, 2025. She was born on November 27, 1943, in San Francisco, California, the daughter of the late Robert Dewey and Catherine Keohane German. As a daughter of a career Navy sailor, she lived in Japan, Canada, California, New York, and for the last 66 years, Virginia.
Diane is survived and cherished by her loving husband of 59 years, Carl; her children Catherine Tartabini (Paul), Millie Crawford (Steve), and Robert Horne (Danilsa). She was dearly loved by her grandchildren Elizabeth (Seth), Sarah, Julia, Mira, Claire, Kyle, Jarod (Liz), Emma, and great grandson, Lorenzo. She also leaves behind her sister in-law, Mary Ethel Woodham of Montevallo, Alabama, and brother-in-Law, Charles Horne (Elizabeth) of Huntsville, Alabama, and will remain in the heart of countless friends who treasured their time with her.
Diane adored her family and loved nothing more than being gathered with them for all of life's celebrations. With Diane, you didn't just have a birthday, you had a birthday festival that lasted for days, and before one was finished, she was already planning for the next. She was a generous soul who couldn't relax until everyone had their favorite food in front of them and a smile on their face. She was an avid bridge player and loved to pass the time with her husband watching westerns and playing dominos.
Diane retired from General Electric Capital and was a faithful member and volunteer of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed giving of herself and was involved with numerous organizations over the years including the St. Francis Guild, the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts, the Northhampton Women's Club, and the Grafton Kiwanis Club.
The family will receive friends at 10:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday April 16, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2150 Cunningham Drive, Hampton, VA. Immediately following at 11:00 AM, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. John Grace.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation, the Colonial Virginia Council Boy Scouts of America, or the food pantry at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Arrangements are by Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions in Hampton, 757-825-8070.
