Dellmon P. Thomas Jr., 69, husband of Pamela D. Thomas, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020. He was fondly known as "Poncho".
Poncho was born February 28, 1951 in Hampton, VA. He was educated in the Yorktown Public School System, graduating from York High School in 1969. He was a dedicated, hard worker at the Newport News Shipyard, where he retired in 2019 after 50 years. He was a Shipfitter, Master Craftsman, Inspector and Mentor to many at the Apprentice School.
Poncho loved the Lord and gave his life to the Lord in 1976. He was a faithful member of Beulah Tabernacle of Newport News, VA, where he was ordained as a Deacon, and then an Elder. He also sang in the choir.
On November 30, 1971, Poncho was united in Holy Matrimony to Pamela D. Thomas, who became his faithful and devoted companion of 49 years. He was a girls Dad to his daughters and many others. He enjoyed hunting, football (Minnesota Vikings), music with a good bass line and his dog Bentley.
Poncho was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine W. Thomas, and grandson, Stephen P. Williams. He is survived by his wife, Pamela D. Thomas; daughters, Marshe' D. Gause, Michelle R. Cotton (Israel), and Teresa D. Taliaferro; father, Dellmon P. Thomas Sr.; sister and brothers, Loretta D. Thomas-Pierce (Charles), Timothy A. Thomas, Sr., and Jerome Thomas; grandchildren, Robert E. Brooks III, Kaylah E. Gause, Joe'l Isaiah Thomas Taliaferro, Jayda M. Taliaferro, and Benjamin M. Cotton; and great-granddaughter, London D. Fletcher.
