David Gene Pecor of Poquoson, Virginia passed from this life to his eternal home on June 6, 2024. David was born on October 25, 1956 in Proctor, Vermont to Theodore B. Pecor and Florence (Witkowski) Pecor. David attended schools in Williamstown, Vermont and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. On December 29, 1973, he married his high school sweetheart, Debra Chartier. David served for three years in the US Army at Fort Carson, Colorado and then three years in the Vermont National Guard. They lived in Websterville, Vermont for many years until moving to Virginia in 1999.
Dave was a carpenter by trade and worked for many contractors in the Tidewater, Virginia area, the first of which was Total Home Improvements in Yorktown, Virginia, where he was the first carpenter hired outside of the family and he quickly became family, then, as construction superintendent for Air Power of Norfolk, Virginia, Jessico of Norfolk, Virginia, and lastly for Tuskegee Contracting in Hampton, Virginia. He retired due to medical reasons in April of 2023. During his years of working, he took great pride in his work and expected the same work ethic from those that worked with him or for him.
He was a member of Websterville Baptist Church in Websterville, Vermont and over the last 11 years, a member of Full Gospel Worship Center in Newport News, Virginia, where he served as Trustee as well as on the Board for many years.
Dave and Debbie spent many years as seasonal campers at Limehurst Lake Campground in Williamstown, Vermont and after moving to Virginia enjoyed trips to Florida and surrounding areas but Dave's favorite place to visit was Nashville. Dave could strike up a conversation with anyone and did. Dave developed many treasured friendships wherever he went.
David leaves behind his wife of fifty years, Debra; his son, David G. Pecor, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Catherine Owen, of Poquoson, Virginia; his grandchildren, Lindsey Pecor and Matthew Pecor of Randolph, Vermont, Taylor Pecor of Poquoson, Virginia, Jack Thompson of Graniteville, Vermont; and his "just-like-grandsons", Trey Spinx, Sumner Kethum and Jason Herring. Also surviving are his sisters, Anna Martin and Patricia Wescom of Graniteville, Vermont and Sandra Tremblay of Fort Pierce, Florida; his sisters in-law, Candy Wasileuskas and her husband, Dan, of Lowell, Massachusetts, Denise Chartier of Barre, Vermont, and Michele Parry and her husband, Jeremy, of Williamstown, Vermont; as well as many nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by his son, Joseph B. Pecor, his parents, his sister, Constance Carroll, his brother, Theodore B. Pecor, Jr., his niece, Amanda Taylor, his nephews, Corey Pecor, and Theodore B. Pecor, III. He was also predeceased by family members Jeffrey and Susan Paronto, Darrell Martin, Bertrand Tremblay and Ed Carroll.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Wounded Warriors Project, Topeka, Kansas or to Shriner's Burn Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
A memorial service will be held June 15, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Full Gospel Worship Center, 7010 Chestnut Avenue, Newport News, Virginia. A committal service will be held at the Vermont Veteran's Cemetery in Randolph Center, Vermont in August.
