In Loving Memory of Connie Sue Rito

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Connie Sue Rito, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, who peacefully departed from this world surrounded by her family on Thursday, 2/15/2024. Born on December 28, 1944, in Huntington, West Virginia, Connie was the daughter of Ellis and Dora Keaton, and one of twelve children.

Connie brought light and joy into the lives of all those who knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She and her husband, Steve Calvin Rito, shared many cherished moments, building a strong foundation of love and support. Throughout their journey together, they faced challenges with unwavering love and always found reasons to share laughter.

Tammy Rito, Connie's only child, is a devoted daughter. Connie loved, protected, and was very proud of her accomplishments. Connie's pride & joy was her grandson, Elliott Walker. He held a special place in her heart and brought her immense joy as she embraced the role of "Nanny," showering him with love, affection, and wisdom, creating beautiful memories that he will never forget.

Connie was a beloved sister to James Keaton of Barboursville, West Virginia, her only surviving sibling. She also leaves behind several nephews and nieces who will deeply miss her.

She had a passion for gardening and was a green thumb maintaining a vibrant vegetable garden and numerous flowering plants in her yard. Her legacy is one of love and strength, and her family and friends will forever hold onto the memories they shared with her.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful caretakers of the Sentara Hospice team, including Sheri, Tony, and all the compassionate nurses, as well as their PCA Cookie, who provided exceptional care for Connie. They would also like to extend their thanks to their supportive friends and family members, especially their cousins, who offered their support and assistance during the last stages of Alzheimer's.

As we say our goodbyes to Connie, let us remember her spirit and spunk. May her memory bring a smile to your face and fill your heart with laughter.

Connie will be laid to rest in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, and a private celebration of life will be scheduled for family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association by clicking HERE in honor of Connie's memory.
