Cleo Joyner Hayes, affectionately known as "Bunkie" passed into eternity on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the age of 83. She was born July 3, 1936 in Potecasi, North Carolina to the late Dallas and Iris Pierce Joyner.
She graduated from Huntington High School in 1955 and worked as a nurse's aide at Zion Baptist Home for the Elderly and retired from Hilton Plaza Adult Home in 1989.

Cleo was united in marriage to Adron Nash Hayes Sr. who preceded her in death. She will be sadly missed by her son, Arnold (Pookie) Hayes; daughters, Jacquelyn Hayes, Jocelyn Hayes Brewer (Michael), Kalandra Hayes Wooden (Moon); grandchildren, Adron III, Jonathan, Bridget, Iris, Stephen, Isiah, Laura, Mia, Michael, Gregory (David), Timothy, Charity, Jakia; and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory two brothers, William L. Joyner (Barbara), Wingate Joyner; two sisters, Gloria Jean, Marie Joyner; and two daughters-in-law, Abi and Gloria Hayes.
Cleo was preceded in death by her sons, Adron Nash Hayes, Jr., Orlando Dewayne Hayes, Stephen Roger Hayes, and her beloved sister, Pecolia Thomas.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, November 30, 2019, 10:00 a.m. at Standing on the Promises of God Worship Center, 7204 Warwick Blvd. Newport News, VA 23607.
