Blanche Romaine Tucker was born October 10,1934, to Theodore J. Harris and Ida M. Harris at Freedman's Hospital in Washington, DC. On her terms, she courageously went home February 27, 2022. She had three siblings, Shirley E. Jones (deceased), Ida M. Beasley, and Eleanor F. Hart. She was educated at George Washington Carver High School in Montgomery County, Maryland, and pursued studies in Fine Art at Cardozo High School in Washington D.C. While studying Fine Art at Cardozo, her oil painting was selected for the District of Columbia Regional Exhibit, which is conducted nationally by Scholastic Magazines, and received a Certificate of Merit. Blanche entered Civil Service after graduating high school.
On January 3, 1987, after 29 years of patriotic service, she retired from the United States Information Agency, Voice of America, as an International Correspondent Coordinator. She was baptized in 1969 and became a member of Church of Atonement, Washington D.C. until moving to Hampton in 1994. She joined First Baptist Church Lincoln Park in 1995, until joining Bethel Temple in 2005.
Ms. Tucker is survived by her son, Timothy A. Tucker and his wife Petra; sisters, Ida M. Beasley and Eleanor F. Hart; six grandchildren; several greatgrandchildren.
Mrs. Tucker's life will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Dr. in Hampton.
