Billy Ray Cole (Senior Chief US Navy Ret), 81, passed away on October 1, 2021.  Born in Stokes County, NC, he has been a resident of Hampton since 1994.  After retirement from the US Navy in 1979, he continued working with the Navy at American Systems Engineering.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Sadie and Herbert Cole; and his brothers, Donald, Danny and Grady Cole.  He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Brenda R. Cole; children, Michael Ray Cole (Angie), Randy Cole (Jodie) and Jeff Sykes (Shelby); sister, Wilma King, brother, Dale Cole; grandchildren, Austin Cole, Jesse Ray Cole, Andrew Sykes, Trevor Sykes, Shelby Anderson, Richard Shoemaker and Matthew Shoemaker; and four great-grandchildren.

Due to Covid concerns, the family will have a private service 1:00 pm Friday, October 8, 2021 at Hampton Baptist Church by Pastor Andrew Garnett.  Those wishing to view the memorial live online, please CLICK HERE after 12:50 pm on Friday.
