On Monday, August 14, 2023, Bernard Jerome Ivey entered eternal rest, peacefully at Riverside Regional Hospital, surrounded by family. Bernard was affectionally known as "Golpher" and "B-Love". He was born on May 28, 1953, in Halifax, N.C. to the late Mildred Britt Ivey and Willie D Ivey. He was educated in Newport News Public Schools and served in the United States Marine Corps. Bernard was loved by many in the Hampton Roads area. He had a passion for fishing, watching National Geographic and Western Movies. Bernard had a special love for his two daughters, five grandkids and four great-grandkids.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Britt Ivey and Willie D. Ivey; his ex-wife, Phyllis E."Van" Ivey; and his brother, Cornelius "Roland" Ivey. Bernard leaves to cherish his warm memories his devoted daughters, Trina (Marlon) Fletcher and Yolonda (Allon) Wright; five grandchildren, Terriauna Cobb, Khaaliq Fletcher, Essence (Jeremy) Darden, Najja, and Ysrael Wright; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Ray Lee (Lynette) Ivey and Edward Keith Ivey, Sr.; sisters, Carolyne (Wayne) DeBerry, Maria and Deborah Ivey, Mildred Preston; a special longtime friend, Florence "Flo" Atkins; and a host of family and friends.
