Beatrice Amanda Williams

Beatrice Amanda Williams, 92, lovingly known as “Bea,” peacefully passed away at her home on Friday, September 4, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on August 14, 1934, in Newport News, Virginia, to her late parents, Andrew Turner, Sr. and Lula Beatrice Shands.

Bea graduated from George P. Phenix High School in 1952 and later pursued further education in Secretarial Science at Thomas Nelson Community College. Her professional development included being a member of The Virginia Association of Educational Office Professionals and the Hampton Association of Educational Office Personnel. Her remarkable organizational skills and calm nature left a lasting impression on the teachers and principals during her 23-year tenure with Hampton City Schools.

Bea held a deep love for God and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on October 23, 1971. Humble in means but boundless in hospitality, she delighted in opening her home for weekly Congregation Bible Studies. When not engaged in Kingdom service, she enjoyed keeping herself and her children active by visiting amusement parks, bowling, skating, and hosting small get-togethers.

As her children grew, she continued to enjoy friendships through card games and volleyball, and embarking on memorable cruises to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel.

In 1995, she shared the good news in seldom worked territory along the Blue Ridge Parkway. After retiring, she devoted more time to her ministry, sharing the beloved teachings of the Bible. One of the highlights of her life was attending the “Give God Glory” International Convention in Sapporo, Japan. Truly, Bea lived a life filled with purpose and happiness!

Bea was preceded in death by several loved ones, including her parents, Andrew Turner, Sr. and Lula Shands; her husband, Floyd Harold Williams; her sisters, Barbara Wright and Wilhelmina Rice; as well as her brother, Melvin Davis; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Davis.

She leaves behind cherished memories with her daughters, Lolita Jefferson, Valencia Jowers (Gabriel), and Monica Williams; along with her son, Robert Williams. As the third of six siblings, she is also survived by her sisters, Gloria Dudley (Leon) of Bennettsville, SC, and Delores Walters of Hampton, VA; as well as her brother, Andrew Turner (Janice) of Hampton, VA. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Tiesha Jefferson Brown (Jayson), Yolanda Jowers, Antoine Williams, Gabriel Jowers Jr., Trevon Williams, Robert Williams II, Jaguar Williams, and Antonio Woods; her great-grandchildren: Anthony, Alaya, Amaya, Kaiden, Donald, Tkyh, Averie, and August; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large spiritual family. Each one held a special place in her heart, as she always welcomed them with a smile that could light up a room!

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Shari Samms at JenCare Senior Medical Center for her unwavering support in making our mom feel cherished and cared for. We also appreciated Dave Matthews at JenCare for consistently bringing a smile to mom's face, even during her toughest days. A special acknowledgment goes to the registered nurses – Cindy, Lindsey, Linsey, Jazmin, and Steve – at Gentiva Hospice; and Craig and Juanita of iCare Transport Service. Additionally, we are deeply thankful to Royce Williams, Simone Platt, and Ms. Lisa for treating mom with the same love and care as family. It truly was a collaborative effort, supporting us every step of the way on this journey.

A memorial service is scheduled to take place at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at E. 717 Little Back River Road, Hampton, Virginia, at 11:00 AM on September 26th.
