Alfred “AC” Clyde White, Jr., 68, passed away on April 4, 2026, in Hampton, Virginia. Born and raised in Hampton, AC was proud of where he came from and the life he built—one shaped by service, hard work, and a generous heart.
AC’s childhood was spent in the Buckroe area of Hampton, with friends he remained loyal to throughout his life. Summers and weekends were spent in Mathews County, where he was free to roam among the homes of many aunts and cousins.
As a young man, AC proudly served three years in the United States Army, including service in Germany. It was there that he met the love of his life, Brigitte. After leaving the Army, he returned to Germany and his bride. He used his gift of gab in various sales roles, easily picking up the language and local dialect. Some of his best memories from that time include singing in a rock band and catching rock shows with his wife and friends.
AC and Brigitte eventually returned to his childhood home, where he took great pride in providing for his family. He worked at Alcoa Howmet Aerospace in various roles and later joined H&W Tools, where he retired as a maintenance technician. He continued to form long-lasting friendships with his coworkers and had a reputation as someone you could call on when in need.
Music and motorcycles were among his greatest passions. He participated in several fundraisers, including poker runs, with his fellow Harley-Davidson riders. He shared his love for guitar and music with his children’s friends and through Hampton’s youth band initiative. In a true reflection of his generous heart, AC shaved his head for a few years to raise funds for St. Baldrick’s Foundation in support of the fight against childhood cancer.
He was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus #511, and he valued the friendships and fellowship he found there.
AC’s joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Those who knew him best will remember his quick wit, steady compassion, and the way he showed up for others without being asked.
AC will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Brigitte; his children, Carmen (Tommy), Miriam (Wilton), and Tony (Sydney); and his grandchildren, Caroline, Theodore, and Adler. He is also remembered with love by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends on both sides of the Atlantic.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 Buckroe Avenue, Hampton. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., prior to Mass. Interment in Mathews, Virginia, will be private and held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, Hampton, Virginia (757-825-8070).
